Grand Final Wrap-Up – 2025/26 Season

The Geraldton Softball Association Grand Final Day delivered an outstanding showcase of talent, intensity and high-quality softball, with every division producing memorable moments and standout individual performances.

In Division 1 Men, Rams delivered a composed and clinical performance to claim the premiership with a 9–2 victory over Suiside. In a contest built on pressure, Rams controlled the key moments from start to finish. Dean Pascoe's pitching set the tone early, limiting Suiside’s scoring opportunities and preventing them from building any rhythm. Defensively, Rams were sharp and disciplined, shutting down attacking plays and executing under pressure, higlighted by a clinical run down play started and finished by Catcher Paul Valenti to end the only scoring dig from Suiside in the bottom of the 6th inning. With the bat, they capitalised on their chances, steadily building a lead before putting the game beyond reach late. Jake Chapman was a standout contributor throughout the contest and was deservedly named MVP for his impact. Pascoe, Valenti and Dion Harrison were constant contributors with the bat but the game was put out of reach after a bases clearing triple from Fletcher Harrison in the top of the 7th put the game out of reach for Rams.

The Division 1 Women’s Grand Final saw Midwest Marlins produce a dominant attacking display in their 20–4 win over Rams. The game began competitively, with Rams showing early promise, however Marlins quickly shifted momentum and took control through the middle innings. Their ability to string together hits, apply pressure on the bases and execute consistently across the lineup proved too much to contain. A decisive surge of runs broke the game open and highlighted the depth of the Marlins side. Aisling Wilson led from the front with an outstanding all-round performance including 3 hits and was deservedly awarded MVP. Taryn Purcell was again a key contributer on the mound and in the batters box, soldifying her place as the top female player in the GSA.

In Division 2 Men, Suiside edged out Rams White 1–0 in a tightly contested Grand Final defined by strong pitching and defence. Both sides matched each other inning for inning with great perfromances on the mound from Suside's Kane Jefferies and Rams Fletcher Harrison, with very few scoring opportunities presented. The game ultimately came down to a single moment, where Suiside were able to capitalise and bring home the only run of the match. From there, they held firm defensively to secure the win. Aiden Raymond’s contribution in that decisive moment saw him recognised as MVP.

The Division 2 Women’s decider saw Suiside overcome Midwest Marlins 10–6 in a hard-fought and competitive match. Marlins made a strong start and applied early scoreboard pressure, however Suiside responded with composure and worked their way back into the contest. A pivotal middle period saw them take control, capitalising on key hitting opportunities and maintaining pressure on the bases. Despite continued efforts from Marlins, Suiside were able to close out the game. Vicki Waugh played a key role in the turnaround and was named MVP.

The Division 3 Men’s Grand Final was an entertaining, high-scoring affair, with Gunduwa defeating Martians 15–11. Gunduwa dominated early, building a strong lead through consistent hitting and aggressive offence. Their ability to convert opportunities into runs proved crucial. Martians responded with an impressive late surge, piling on runs to close the margin and apply pressure, however the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Jai Parker was outstanding across the game and earned MVP honours.

A thrilling contest unfolded in theDivision 3 Women’s Grand Final, with Pi’s Panthers claiming a narrow 17–15 victory over Rams White. In one of the most exciting games of the day, both teams traded runs in a fast-paced, attacking contest with momentum swinging throughout. Panthers managed to gain a slight edge late and held on under pressure to secure the win. Jodie Vanderwal delivered a standout performance and was named MVP.

The junior competitions also provided fantastic Grand Final moments. In the 16s, Batavia Blaze edged out Bulldogs 3–2 in a closely fought contest where defence and composure were key. Kirk Piper stood out with a strong performance and was named MVP. In the 14s, Midwest Marlins secured a narrow 4–3 victory over Rams in another tightly contested match, with Jayven Dicken earning MVP honours for his efforts.

Congratulations to all premiership teams, runners-up and individual award winners. Grand Final Day once again highlighted the strength, depth and spirit of our competition. A big thank you to all players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and supporters who contributed to a fantastic season.
