After years of discussion, we're excited to share that the Main Diamond BackNet project is nearly complete! The upgrade addresses safety concerns, which had previously presented the baord with the real possibility of not being able to schedule games on Dimaond 1. The fresh look has already made an impact, evident when the first pitch during the first Division 1 game was fouled and caught by the overhang of the new BackNet.
A project like this does not just happen but instead takes many hours of planning and implementation from many dedicated people. We would love to send a shout out and express our gratitude to the following:
-
City of Greater Geraldton: For their substantial donation through the Community Grants Program.
-
Rio Tinto: For their considerable contribution via the Community Giving Program.
-
Batavia Coast Baseball and Teeball League: For their generous donation to the project.
-
Kennards Hire Geraldton: Generously donating the equipment crucial for the removal of the old BackNet and the erection of the new structure.
-
VIP Tiltpanel & Concrete: Thanks to Pez and his team for their efforts in removing the backnet and we look forward to Pez assisting with the netting being re-attached!
-
Peppers Contracting: Their craftsmanship and flexibility in accommodating changes and requests were instrumental in the project's success.
-
GSA Volunteers: For their hard work in the removal process.
-
Adam Gilchrist and Grounds Team: For their dedication and extra effort in restoring the diamond.
As we await the final touches and the re-fixing of the netting, we appreciate your patience and look forward to many decades of Softball with our new structure!
Thank you for your support!
